
OUR PURPOSE
The Reitz Agricultural Academy aims to be a world-class and unique agricultural training institution. The Academy is vocationally oriented and wants to equip students with knowledge and skills to fully take their place in the agricultural sector of the economy.

ABOUT US
The Reitz Agricultural Academy is a non-profit company located in the Eastern Free State town of Reitz, where the academy is housed by the Reitz High School. It also includes hostel accommodation
PRACTICAL
The curriculum is very practical in nature so that the student can also gain practical experience of farming.
The students are exposed to farming practices of both livestock and crop farming. The development of skills with implements and equipment is also aimed at.
The Academy puts practical work and development high on the agenda and spends a lot of time on it.

THEORY
The curriculum is divided into 2 main subject areas.
The emphasis is on sustainability of the agricultural sector.
The emphasis here is on data collection and processing
"To measure is to know." It is important that students also become familiar with the latest technology.


FARM
The Academy has several projects that make a major contribution to the practical training of the students:
- Bonsmara stud development
- Small livestock farming
- Tunnel cultivation
- Crops-mainly cereals
- Short courses from NWU

LEARN
The curriculum is focused on 2 main aspects for grades 10 to 12, as well as an after-school year. Conservation Agriculture: Man and agriculture. The impact of agriculture on the environment. Status of agriculture in South Africa. Examples of conservation agriculture systems in the world are then followed by a whole module dealing with soil and various soil tests that can be done

GROW
The Reitz Agricultural Academy has a comprehensive view on the development of youth and works holistically. Attention is paid to academic, cultural, theoretical, as well as spiritual development, so that a balanced product can be delivered.
